Joyne is revolutionizing the pre-construction process by combining professional estimators, smart software, and the ability to order building materials at the best possible prices.
Joyne’s vision is to become the go-to platform for all things pre-construction. To achieve that, Joyne partnered with Flatirons Development to automate quantity takeoffs and cost estimators for contractors.
Flatirons kicked this project off by conducting a series of user interviews and surveys to identify pain points, behaviors, and motivations. Then throughout the design process, we performed usability testing to uncover any problem areas and continually improve upon the user experience.
We designed a web-based takeoff software tool to enable users to easily measure and markup their blueprints on-screen and get fast and accurate cost estimates. Users can add live material pricing from Joyne’s online database or choose to add their own custom labor and material rates.
We designed a web-based takeoff software tool to enable users to easily measure and markup their blueprints on-screen and get fast and accurate cost estimates. Users can add live material pricing from Joyne’s online database or choose to add their own custom labor and material rates.
Once the takeoff order is complete, we generate a bill of materials (BOM) for the user. The BOM is a robust spreadsheet that breaks down the project scope by items and quantities so General Contractors can submit their quotes for the construction job.
Users can upload, customize, and store their projects via the seamless, automated platform.
Flatirons designed an experience for users to enable them to actually purchase building materials directly through the platform. Our APIs pull information from the biggest material retailers, allowing users to see all options available to them and select the one at the best price and distance.
We created a complete, living style guide and design system for Joyne. The typography, colors, illustrations, and form patterns we introduced are designed to make the experience intuitive and easy to navigate for even the least tech-savvy users.
